The Better Government Association's new CEO, veteran journalist Andy Shaw, is making good on promises to team up with investigative journalists to provide more sunshine in Illinois.
Last month, the BGA teamed with the Chicago Sun-Times to reveal that patronage workers at the Cook County Forest Preserve had received big raises and donated to the campaigns of Cook County Board President Todd Stroger or the 8th Ward Democratic Organization.
Earlier this month, the BGA teamed with Fox Chicago's Dane Placko to question why some suburban municipalities were hiring two construction companies with strong ties to a reputed mob boss. And just this week, the group worked with CBS 2 investigator Dave Savini to uncover government workers' widespread abuse government-owned cars.
