Literary Events Next Week


Come out to Cole's Bar in Logan Square to see the poetry slam group Mental Graffiti prepare for the National Poetry Slam in Boston this August. Mental Graffiti features the amazing talent of Amy David, Billy Tuggle, Eric Sirota, Fatimah Asghar and Stephanie Lion Sutton.

WRITE CLUB Chicago --- Chapter 47, The Final Countdown is happening at the Hideout Inn. The show is $10 (cash only) and starts at 7pm. Ian Belknap will be the host and featured smack downs include Jacob S. Knabb versus Dan BoydScott Pasko versus Kim Morris, and Merrie Greenfield versus KellyAnn Corcoran.

Also on Tuesday is another installment of The Pungent Parlour reading series at The Black Rock Pub & Kitchen. The theme this go-round is "Less Benny, More Joon" and featured performers include Ben Tanzer, Monte LeMonte, Nicky Yowell and Ben Bliss. Get there at 8pm and grab a burger!

Come out to Powell's Bookstore at 7pm for the Guts & Glory reading series hosted by Samantha Irby and Keith Ecker and featuring performances by Stephanie Lane Sutton, Claire Zulkey, Ray Teresi, Sarah Hollenback and Nikki Pierce.

Also on Wednesday is the ACM (Another Chicago Magazine)#51 release party at the Hungry Brain. Featured readers will include Jeffrey AllenOkla ElliotBaird HarperColleen O'ConnorMatt RowanDawn TeftRuss Woods and more. There will be live music, booze, and storytelling. Doors open at 8pm!

Curbside Splendor Publishing and Madame Zuzu's Teahouse team up to bring you another installment of Salon Splendor. This time the theme is "Break Downs". Your host for the evening is Jacob S. Knabb and featured performers include Roxanne GayRichard Thomas and Davis Schneiderman. There will be live music provided by Good Evening. End the week right by coming out to The Omniphonic Challenge hosted by "The Weirdos at W4tb" at Powell's Bookstore. The series which blends slam poetry and live music will take place in The Rendezvous Room. Come watch The Sutton Sisters (with Stephanie Lane Sutton), Billy TuggleThe Goods (with Este Stevie Cologne and Roxy Carolan), and Ominiphonic perform their spirited pieces.
