This may be old news to film buffs, but for those of you who are unaware, Ashton Kutcher is going to play Steve Jobs in the upcoming biopic jOBS (that’s no typo. Lower case j, capital OBS). I think most people are skeptical about the Two and a Half Men star portraying such an exceptional American Icon. Why? Didn’t he prove his acting range in The Butterfly Effect? Heh. Seriously though, he’s gotten quite a bit of praise from one Sundance blogger and the few critics who have seen it. Also, the resemblance between the two is uncanny. I had no idea young Steve Jobs was such a sexy man-beast. Grrrrrr.
The movie begins in 1977, one year after Jobs dropped out of college. It spans from the birth of Apple technology, which began in his parent’s garage, and ends around the time of the development of the first iPod. jOBS captures the arduous journey of becoming the CEO of Apple. It debuts at Sundance January 25th, and is set to be released in April.
On a side note, Aaron Sorkin is set to write another biopic about the Apple iconoclast based on the biography, "Steve Jobs," written by Walter Issacson. Two biopics? Ok, he was kind of a big deal, I get it. I’d like to see a West Side Story-esque fight sequence between both film crews. Aggressive-tension-building-finger-snaps included.
