Starting this Saturday, June 30, the city of Elmhurst has a new walking tour available. "Elmhurst's Voices from Beyond" The tour is based heavily on the rich history of Elmhurst and some of the folklore, legends and haunts associated with some of its many historic locations. Locations of interest on the tour include:
Elmhurst College's Mill Theater (reportedly haunted by a former technical director)
St. Peter and St. Mary's Cemeteries (students report a "lady in white" wandering the cemteries at night)
Wilder Mansion (Seth Wadham's "White Birch")
Elizabeth's Rose Garden
Chicago Fire Relic at Wilder Park
Site of the Crane Sanitarium
Glos Mansion (History Museum)
The tours will start outside the Elmhurst College's Mill Theater at 251 Walter Street in Elmhurst, IL at 7:30pm. Tickets are $20 (Cash only, currently) with group rates available. Free Parking is available after 7pm once block north of the start along W. Park Ave and also at the Municipal Lot on Adelaide Street 2 blocks to the east.
