Last week we headed to
Wisconsin Will's Northwoods Inn in Lakeview to try out their Tuesday evening trivia night. The bar brags that it's "a little bit of God's country in the heart of south Lakeview" and is the place to go for all things Packers/Badgers/whatever Marquette's mascot is. It's also home to a really awesome trivia night with a fantastic crowd.
A review of Will's has got to start with a description of the menu, which includes hard boiled eggs (for just $1 each!), pickled herring (a bargain at just $5!), and moose knuckles (they are just $8.50, whatever they are!). Never fear, city slickers. They've also got standard bar food like burgers and fries. Bonus, there's free popcorn! Bonus II, every day Schlitz tall boys are just $3! Head over to Will's on game day and enjoy $5 32-ounce souvenir cups and $9 pitchers of Miller Lite and Leinenkugel's.
The trivia is much more conventional than the menu. It's 6 rounds, 3 questions per round, and you wager points for each question. Two things that aren't conventional about the trivia? 1.) The host is a hostess! Female hosts are few and far between in Chicago's pub trivia scene, and we thought that Trivia Girl was pretty awesome. Plus she gave away free cookies to the crowd, so she's basically a rock star in my book. 2.) The crowd is great. The place was packed and everyone came to play. There were great team names and everyone seemed to be having a good time.
A few more *crucial* details. Be warned: there are no working locks on the women's bathroom stalls! Also, Will's is hosting Musky Fest September 9th and 10th. They are now accepting applications for Musky Queen. Good luck to everyone!
