A few Wednesdays ago, we went to trivia at Waterhouse in Roscoe Village. It wasn't our first try-- we tried to go a few months before and got burned because apparently trivia isn't a priority at Waterhouse during Purdue games. With basketball season over, we decided to try again, and overall, we weren't disappointed.
Trivia at Waterhouse is run by Whaddayaknow, a successful trivia company in town. Even though the format isn't our favorite (question-song-question-song), we're finding more of those kinds of trivia nights all over the city, and Whaddayknow has at least worked many of the kinks out. Their questions are good, too. I am pretty sure the host is the same guy that we encountered when we did Whaddayknow trivia at Bird's Nest and Logan Bar -- if he isn't the same guy, then it has to be his apprentice. He's super nice, but really wordy. Like, it took him 3 minutes to ask us one question, and the answer was Hungry Hungry Hippos. But, he was kind of charming, so we were pretty ok with it. After 10:00, we got less ok.
On Wednesday night, Waterhouse offers 1/2 off bottles and glasses of wine. They are also proud of the fact that they get their meat from Paulina Meat Market...it's all over their menu. It's pretty standard bar fare. My burger was good. Not really a standout, but let's be honest-- it takes a lot for a burger over $1 to stand out. Waterhouse also has "kinky trivia" on Mondays. We haven't been yet, but if anyone has, we'd love to know what to expect.
After the first of two final rounds, we were 50 points away from first place-- a sad showing but not too bad for two people. As usual with Whaddayknow, the winners get some money off of next week's bill.
If you're in the neighborhood and want to play trivia, or if you are a fan of Whaddayknow, Waterhouse's Wednesday night trivia is pretty solid. Bonus: if you Like them on Facebook, you can get a free point by answering the weekly question on their page!
