Kincade's in Lincoln Park runs a pretty standard trivia night on Mondays. But if you're looking for something a little out of the ordinary, head back to Kincade's on Thursday night for their Family Feud inspired trivia night. Hard core trivia fans should stick to Globe because this is more of a game night than a trivia night. Still, we had a blast and think Thursdays at Kincade's are perfect for anyone looking for a fast, fun, low-key night out. Thursday night specials include 30 cent jumbo chicken wings and $4 Fat Tires on draft. And every night they serve bacon in a glass. For those of you who don't know what bacon in a glass is, it's strips of bacon served in a glass. Duh. We ordered it because it was funny, and I don't know if we would do it again. Funny food isn't necessarily appetizing food. Lesson learned.
While the bacon may be less than stellar, we have only good things to say about the Family Feud inspired trivia night. It started promptly at 9pm, and the hosts were really eager to answer questions and keep things moving on efficiently.
The game itself is just like a mini game of Family Feud. The hosts ask a question such as: If you love life was a street sign, what would it be? Then the teams have to think of the 6 or so most popular answers. A stop sign! Slippery when wet! The catch is, you don't want to name to most popular answer (aka the easiest and most obvious answer), you want to name the 6th most popular answer. The less popular your answer is, the more points you get.
At the end of the game, the the top two teams get to go head to head. The winning team gets a $25 gift certificate to Kincade's and the second place team gets two free pitchers of beer. At other game/trivia nights, we've gotten just a handshake for winning, so we think Kincade's prizes are pretty great.
If you don't win the first game, you'll get another chance. They take a short break and then start a second game. Don't worry, the night doesn't drag at all. When we played the night started promptly at 9pm and we were out the door by about 10:15pm.
Again, it's probably not for hard core trivia fans. But it is fun, fast, convenient, and you stand a good chance of snagging a prize!
Finally, we'd like to give a big thanks to trivia host extraordinare, Jeremy, who joined us last Thursday. In addition to helping us win the $25 gift certificate, Jeremy also told us all about his upcoming trivia nights. He's got some good stuff up his sleeve, so contact him for more info.
