If you've ever thought to yourself: bingo is pretty fun, but it would be so much better if it was more erotic, then Hamburger Mary's Monday night bingo extravaganza is for you. Bingo cards cost $5 each and 100% of the proceeds go towards charity. And that's just about the only wholesome part of "Hambingo." The evening is hosted by buxom drag diva Velicity Metropolis, who shows a ton of skin (see pictures below) and never misses the opportunity to make a dirty joke. It's not for the faint of heart, but Hambingo is perfect for those who are looking for a raucous way to spend a Monday night.
Hamburger Mary's in Andersonville also features trivia on Tuesday
nights, but we decided to take a break from the norm and check out
another game night. The food and drink at Mary's are delish. They're
obviously known for their burgers, but their sandwiches and veggie
options are also tasty. They've also got a great beer menu including
some home brews. Monday night specials include $5 margaritas and cheap
Jello shots. If you've already graduated college and think your days of Jello shooting are over, talk to the table of 60-year-olds who took them like champs last Monday.
Bingo goes from 8-10 with a long intermission during which Velicity
Metropolis performs. You'll play a variety of bingo games, all with super
dirty names that I don't feel comfortable repeating. Game winners get
a free Jello shot and some sort of bar swag.
The real prize, however, is Velicity Metropolis. She's dirty but
delightful and also looks killer in her
tight purple dress and platform heels. The night "drags" on a little bit
when she pauses bingo to make a costume change and perform a song, but
watching her sing and dance to the great Shania Twain's Man I Feel Like
a Woman was worth it.
I still prefer trivia, but taking the week off to play bingo was kind
of refreshing. I didn't learn any trivia facts, but I did get a lesson
in how to work a room. Thanks, Velicity.
