I am very excited to announce that I will be on the NBC News with Ginger Zee tomorrow morning (2/26) during the 9am local Chicago broadcast. I will be discussing greenwashing and what to look for when purchasing products that truly are good for the environment, safe and non-toxic. I also intend to elaborate on certain words or catch phrases that companies use to appear as if they are "green" or "all-natural," and how not to be fooled by them. Additionally, I will offer insight & resources where you can find out if the products you are buying and the companies that produce them are really looking out for your health, safety and the environment.
Chicago Green Girl on NBC with Ginger Zee Tomorrow & Green Scene This Weekend!
This segment will be followed-up with a blog post in which I will discuss all of these key points in more detail as well as provide websites where you can learn more about the products you purchase - from how the environmental standards of companies measure up to the toxicity levels of beauty products. I hope that you can tune into the broadcast, I promise it will be informative and interesting! To learn more about Ginger Zee click here or go to her Facebook page.
Additionally, I want to mention Bin Donated's fundraiser which is tomorrow night (2/26) at Manor. Bin Donated is one of my favorite local charities, and the founder Judson is one of the most selfless people I have ever met! He started Bin Donated with his own money and is determined to divert as much waste as possible from ending up in landfills, instead going to help out those in need. He drives around the city picking up one company's trash and making it another person's treasure. From beauty care products, to hats, gloves, books and toys, Jud has made it easy to donate these items to people in need and local charities throughout Chicago. You can find a BIN near you by going to their website.
The fundraiser is from 8pm until 11pm, includes cocktails & dessert, and is only $40 per person in advance ($50 at the door). Bin Donated is also collecting new & used books at the door for Chicago Public Schools and Open Books.
