Chicago Green Scene - Global Grazing Fundraiser this Monday for The Academy for Global Citizenship!

I don't normally write separate blog posts to highlight Chicago Green Scene events, but this one deserves a post all on its own! The Academy for Global Citizenship (a Chicago public contract school) is hosting a fundraiser this Monday, October 11th called Global Grazing. They were able to organize this event in record time thanks to the dedication of the participating chefs, which I must add is a most impressive line-up! The chefs will be using fruits and vegetables from The AGC's garden in the items served. It is from 3pm until 7pm, and it is only $40 per person, which includes food and libations. ALL of the money will go straight to The AGC, as the chefs and restaurants are very kindly donating everything!

The following chefs and restaurants are participating:

For those of you that don't know about The Academy for Global Citizenship, I strongly encourage you to take a moment and check out their website or watch this short video about the school. I will actually be posting a blog article for my "Green Spotlight On..." next week about The Academy for Global Citizenship, for the school is unlike any I have ever seen. But, in short - the kids grow their own fruits & vegetables, they are fed an organic lunch cooked on-site for breakfast & lunch, have yoga every morning before school starts, there are 3 chickens cared for by the students, multiple composting & recycling options...I could go on and on.
The kids that attend The AGC are taught from day one that they are stewards of the earth and it is their job to help make the world a better place, all the while learning in the warmest, most innovative & open-minded ways. 80% of the kids that go to The Academy for Global Citizenship live below the poverty line, while 10% are considered homeless. And I have never seen a happier bunch of children than when I visited the school!
