Just in time for me to bid adieu to my laptop (hopefully) for the beautiful holiday weekend, I finished the Chicago June Green Scene Calendar. Once again this month is filled with some great events around Chicago for the adult, kid, philanthropist, good-doer, foodie or musician in you!
In conjunction with the publishing of our June Green Scene Calendar we are offering two free tickets to Growing Home's 8th Annual Benefit on Thursday, June 3rd at the Chicago Cultural Center ($250 value!). Growing Home is a wonderful organization that provides job training for homeless & low-income individuals through learning opportunities and employment in the horticulture field as well as job readiness curriculum. 100% of all proceeds from the sales of their organic produce are used to support their training programs and farm sites.
Tickets to the Growing Home benefit include a wine bar, hors d'oeuvres and a 3-course meal by local Chicago chefs and caterers, along with Growing Home interns. The keynote address will be given by author, food activist and blogger Frances Moore Lappe. Additionally, the event will be emceed for the third year in a row by Mike Nowak, host of WCPT Radio's "The Mike Nowak Show." There are also some awesome silent auction prizes! If you are interested in attending this event you can purchase tickets here.
To win the tickets, answer the following question:
Where can you buy produce grown by Chicago's Growing Home's job training interns?
Send your answer, along with your name, address, phone, e-mail & age (they don't need your height, weight or SS#) to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please put Chicago Green Girl in the e-mail subject line.
