AECOM's Pier+ Proposal Gets my "Thumbs Up"

Crystal Garden. This part of the pier has seen better days so I'm glad AECOM has an idea to transform it. The new Crystal Garden would be a sustainable food production attraction, an urban food jungle-if you will. A floating "seed-like juice bar" will serve visitors products from food grown on site. The Crystal Garden will also be used to supply the restaurants at Pier+ with produce, serve as location for entertainment and education in sustainable food production. Image courtesy of AECOM+BIG
Recently a select number of design firms were selected to submit proposals for a renovation and re-imaging of Chicago’s Navy Pier. While all of them have merit, the proposal by AECOM+BIG  really caught my eye and I think is the best of the group. Chicago Park District Day Camp Scholarships

A grant from Parkways Foundation, the nonprofit arm of the Chicago Park District, of over $200,000 will provide scholarships to eligible families for the popular summer day camp program.
