This afternoon the Chicago Flower & Garden Show held a preview before it opens to the public on Saturday morning. I'll post more pictures and information on this year's theme of The Sport of Gardening. For now below are just a few pictures from the show and some recommendations for shopping at the flower show marketplace and events you should attend during the course of the show. For discounts to tickets for the Chicago Flower & Garden Show see this post

Marketplace

The marketplace at the Chicago Flower and Garden Show is a great opportunity to buy plants, books and garden art. Target seems to be breathing new life into the Smith & Hawken (143)  brand and expanding the number of garden items it sells. Here are some vendors I recommend checking out.
230 Trees That Feed Foundation.
239 Strong Marketing-Garden gloves and seedballz.
237 Unique Bulbs
326 JULIE, Inc
343 Chicago Botanic Garden-Garden books.
421 Ted's Greenhouse-Cacti & Succulents galore.
439 D. Landreth Seed Company-Seeds and seed potatoes.
530 Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences
531 Rich's Foxwillow Pines-Trees & shrubs, especially for bonsai enthusiasts.
The show floor was designed by Terry Guen Design Associates, the acclaimed landscape architecture and urban design floor in an urban grid. It makes the show easier to walk and find the exhibits. This year the horticulture competitions and the photography exhibit have better placement and lighting.

  • So bummed I missed the press opening, but not sorry I missed the rain. Thanks for the great tips!

  • I'm not gonna look at too many photos cos I want to be surprised tomorrow--but love the green roof and ORANGE thingamawhatsie.

  • I'm looking forward to your shares / networking from the show all week. The Chicago Garden Show knows how to put on a real display and I'm sad I will not be able to see it in person this year.

    Thanks for all you do!

  • Nice pics MBT! Looking forward to checking out the show tomorrow. Hope to see you there!
