On Tuesday, March 12, 2013, Sepia executive chef Andrew Zimmerman welcomes executive chef and owner Gerard Craft from St. Louis (Niche, Pastaria, Taste by Niche, and Brasserie by Niche) into his kitchen for a collaborative dinner at Private Dining by Sepia (135 N. The two nationally-acclaimed chefs have both recently been named as semifinalists for the 2013 James Beard Award Foundation Awards, a fifth nomination for Craft and second nomination for Zimmerman. Best known for their work with Midwestern farmers and purveyors, the five course “Modern Midwest” dinner, including wine pairings and a welcome cocktail reception, will celebrate the best, seasonal product of the region. FEW Spirits and Atwood Café have teamed up to create “FEW Kids on the Block,” a special dinner of unforgettable food, cocktails and shenanigans. Envisioned to showcase the young talent in the kitchens and behind the bars of Chicago’s renowned restaurant scene, each course will be prepared by a local chef, who is under 30 years old, and paired with a cocktail using FEW spirits created by a local bartender, also under 30. This St. Patrick's Day, Chicagoans looking for authentic revelry are invited to The Gage (24 S. Michigan Ave.), where Owner Billy Lawless welcomes Chicago's Irish community - and those who are just "Irish for the Day" - to celebrate one of the city's favorite holidays. Two generations of the Lawless family are behind the festive Irish fare and atmosphere at The Gage, and the team invites all to rejoice in this cheerful day by enjoying a line-up of menu specials, live music, and good craic. Diners can savor authentic Irish fare, washed down with a selection of traditional Irish beers and whiskeys. Hash House A Go Go located at 1212 North State Parkway, is putting the gold in Gold Coast with the luck of the Irish feast on St. Patrick’s Day Weekend featuring holiday specials like classic corned beef dishes and green beer, on Saturday, March 16 and Sunday, March 17.
Like everything at the “twisted farm food” joint, the St. Patrick’s Day offerings will be big, bold, and packed with flavor. To kick off the festivities, Hash House A Go Go will open bright and early on Saturday, March 16 in preparation for the official parade. Early risers will enjoy the Corned Beef and Eggs Breakfast Buffet ($5.99), offered on Saturday between 7 and 10 a.m. in the restaurant’s private dining area, or they can opt for the full breakfast menu including specials, like the Hash House a Go Go Famous Signature Corned Beef Hash ($7.77), in the main dining room and bar.
