The King is Dead – Long Live the King!

I think the world of food is wondering who that new king may be. Is he in Chicago? Copenhagen? I think the verdict will be out for a bit but one thing we can all agree on is that the closing of El Bulli while sad marks the end of an era of influence. Ferran Adria is a gregarious, fun loving, enthusiastic man who inspired a generation of chef’s and I would argue restoked the inner fires in many who may have cooked their way in to a rut.

The team at Alinea, Next and Aviary created a tribute video that showcases the youthful exuberance of food and creativity. Ferran will be missed but hardly forgotten! He now takes his place next to Escoffier, Bocuse, Point and others in the pantheon of Chefs.

If he pulls a Brett Farve, you can bet I’ll do my best to grab a seat at that dinner!
