ILLINOIS EDUCATION FOUNDATION'S 4TH ANNUAL FOOD AND WINE TASTING
Michelin-honored Chefs Mauro Mafrici of Pelago Restaurant and Jimmy Bannos of The Purple Pig and Heaven on Seven will be on hand for this year's incarnation of what promises to be the event of the summer season on Friday, June 10 at Zhou B. Art Center (1029 W. 35th St.).
The $1,000 per ticket benefactor reception kicks off at 6:30 in the gallery space - where the first exhibit of new work in five years by the Zhou Brothers will be on display - featuring an exclusive "talking and tasting" seven-course meal with the two renowned chefs. Guests will have the chance not only to indulge in abundant gourmet fare but get up close and personal with the chefs as they prepare their signature creations. Grammy-nominated saxophone player Nick Bisesi will greet guests upon arrival and the highly-regarded koto/cello duo Wichmann/McDermott will perform throughout the reception.
The $350 per ticket patron event begins at 7:30 p.m. and will offer an impressive five-course menu prepared by Chefs Mafrici and Bannos.
Also featured for both events is award-winning sommelier Chantelle Pabros, formerly of L20, who will lend her expertise pairing each course with a variety of Champagnes and wines sourced from boutique wineries around the world.

Nick's Pizza & Pub is hosting Family Fun, a special kid-friendly evening benefit to support the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Kane County on Thursday, June 16, 2011, from 6 to 9 p.m. Family Fun will take place in the Nick's Pizza & Pub banquet room and patio area. The event is open to the public and will feature pizza, beverages, live music, and a gift-basket raffle.
This is the inaugural year that Nick's Pizza & Pub is hosting the CASA Kane County benefit. Affinia Chicago and C-House are hosting Cooking for a Cause at C-View, the hotel's rooftop lounge, to support the Greater Chicago Food Depository. The event, which takes place on Saturday, June 25 from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., will feature several of Chicago's top female chefs and their favorite culinary creations from their hometowns around the country.
Tickets are $75 and include all food and beverages plus a meet and greet with the chefs. On Tuesday, June 21, Sofitel Chicago Water Tower will celebrate Fête de la Musique, a global day of music that coincides with the summer solstice.
