Mint Juleps and BIG Hats

Mint Juleps and BIG Hats

I love the Kentucky Derby and horse racing in general. I spent summers with my grandfather learning how to bet and handicap horses growing up. I'm Italian it's what we do. This weekend is the first jewel of the Triple Crown. The video is from Secretariat's record breaking win. Why secretariat? The year I was born he was the Triple Crown winner and actually raced at Arlington Park.

Speaking of Arlington Park - If you're up to celebrate in style at the track you won't be disappointed!

Chicagoland's Biggest Kentucky Derby Party - May 7
The "Run for the Roses" is in full swing at Arlington Park with the biggest Kentucky Derby celebration in the Chicago area. Levy Restaurants is also the official caterer at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky., which means Arlington Park Executive Chef Ricky DeLeon is able to bring the authentic Louisville experience to Arlington.

Always a crowd favorite, mint juleps will continue to be available throughout the grounds. Arlington Park will be the only location outside Louisville to serve the classic bourbon drink in the same commemorative souvenir glass served at the 137th Kentucky Derby.

New this year, guests can enjoy a red carpet experience in the Derby Party Zone, a special package that features seating in the Marquee Tents and includes admission to Arlington Park with a special red carpet entrance, fashion shows, a Daily Racing Guide, and all-inclusive food and beverage packages.  For reservations call 847.385.7410 between 8:30am and 5pm daily.
