For many of us, this weekend marks the beginning of summer. While I love a good BBQ, the holiday began as a reconciliation for Union and Confederate states, soldiers, all Americans to reconcile and remember the sacrifice and schism our country went through. Later, Memorial Day became a remembrance for all of those who have served and lost their lives preserving not only our right to freedom but our neighbors, allies and not so friendly factions, as well.
At some point, I hope we'll all take a quiet moment and say thank you for those in the Armed Forces now and those who have come before.
Have a safe BBQ and hopefully it dries out so we can enjoy it outside!
