Beer Lovers Celebrate Craft Beer Week
C-House, located inside the Affinia Chicago, is calling all beer lovers to celebrate Chicago's Craft Beer Week. From May 19 through 27 C-House will be offering a three-course menu for $39 pairing local beers with dishes from acclaimed Top Chef Marcus Samuelsson. Lillie's Q chef/owner Charlie McKenna, who serves award-winning competition BBQ along with Southern favorites and sides at his Bucktown restaurant (1856 W North Ave), will host a four-course beer featuring rare Anderson Valley Brewing Company brews starting at 6pm on Tuesday, May 24. There are no reservations accepted for the beer dinner, and it will be served on a first come, first serve basis starting at 6pm. Lillie's Q will also serve it's regular a la carte menu on Tuesday, May 24 as well.
The cost of the four-course dinner - with each course paired with a different 8oz pour of Anderson Valley beers - is $55 per person (tax and gratuity not included). Anderson Valley owner and president Trey White will be at the beer dinner and will talk about the beer pairings. Proceeds from each beer dinner sold will go the Make-A-Wish Foundation's "Dining For Wishes" campaign.
Cajun fun at Café de Architects
On Tuesday, June 21, Sofitel Chicago Water Tower will celebrate Fête de la Musique, a global day of music that coincides with the summer solstice. In honor of this spirited event, Café des Architectes will offer a special New Orleans-style menu by Executive Chef Greg Biggers. From 6-10 p.m., guests will also be able to enjoy live jazz music, specially curated by notable Chicago jazz promoter John Moultrie. The special prix fixe menu features some Cajun favorites, where guests have a choice between two items for each course, for the cost of $58 per person (excluding tax and gratuity).
Trump International Hotel & Tower® Chicago, in partnership with the Chicago Architecture Foundation, invites food and architecture enthusiasts alike to an intimate dinner that will marry elegant design and decadent dining. Scheduled for Tuesday, June 21, the evening will take place inside Sixteen, the downtown Chicago hotel's signature modern American restaurant, and celebrate the venue's timeless, contemporary construction.

As Memorial Day kicks off summer, what better way to celebrate than with an American classic with a twist! Beginning June 6 through June 11, Executive Chef Scott Walton of Markethouse (611 N. Fairbanks Ct.), a farm-to-table restaurant that celebrates the flavors of America's heartland, will offer his limited-time only Grassland Butter Bacon Burger for only $6.
Offered for lunch and dinner, the new 5 oz burger, made with a bacon-filled Angus beef patty and organic Grassland Butter, is topped with a Slagel Farm fried egg, Big Ed's Gouda cheese and Markethouse pickles. The burger will be served on a Red Hen bun with Markethouse's delicious steak fries. Guests can also choose to make it a double for just $12.
BBQ at Mercadito
Memorial Day marks the kickoff to summer and barbeque season, and Chef Patricio Sandoval of Mercadito(108 W. Kinzie St) will show how to spice up the grill at this month's Gulf of Mexico Cooking Demonstration. With beachside barbeque recipes for delicious seafood and grilled dishes, the five-course cooking demonstration will take place on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30 from 6 to 9 pm at Double A, located beneath Mercadito. The cost is $55 per guest, exclusive of tax and gratuity. Reservations are required and may be made by calling 312.329.9555.
Chef Tasting Bites
StarChefs.com will celebrate its Chicago Rising Stars Award winners on Monday, May 23, 2011 at Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park from 7 to 10 p.m. The Rising Stars Revue is a walk-around tasting gala featuring signature savory dishes, desserts, and drinks presented by the Rising Stars. These awards recognize up-and-coming chefs, pastry chefs, sommeliers, and mixologists from around the country, and a few of our local winners include Stephanie Izard of Girl & the Goat, Jimmy Bannos, Jr. of The Purple Pig, and Jared Van Camp of Old Town Social.

Italian Street Festival
Terzo Piano's first ever Terrace Fest event will celebrate the start of the summer season and outdoor dining on the Bluhm Family Sculpture Terrace. To celebrate Chef Tony Mantuano and Chef di Cucina Meg Colleran Sahs will host an after work event resembling an Italian street festival, Thursday, June 2nd 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Entrance into the fest is $10 and includes two complimentary tickets. Additional tickets may be purchased for $5 each, and tickets are redeemable for one food or beverage item. Brunch in River North
The dining scene along River North's popular Hubbard Street corridor is heating up this spring with the addition of a new brunch destination - Hubbard Inn. Run by Proprietors Adolfo Garcia, Daniel Alonso, and David Mitria, the three-month-old Continental tavern will add brunch service to its culinary line-up every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., starting this Saturday, May 14.
Cooking Demo al fresco
Mark your calendars. Beginning Tuesday, May 31, Executive Chef Scott Walton of Markethouse Restaurant and Bar kicks off his Heartland 101 Garden Series atop the restaurant's magnificent rooftop garden. Offered once a month on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., guests will enjoy an informative evening alfresco with demonstrations by Chef Scott of five garden-driven dishes, along with tips, recipes and generous tastings of each dish paired with cocktails or beer. World Ocean Day
Prairie Fire (215 N. Clinton in Chicago; 312-382-8300) is honoring World Ocean Day in cooperation with the John G. Shedd Aquarium 6 p.m. June 8. The event features presentations by Shedd Aquarium staff-Melanie Napoleon, Senior Director of Great Lakes Conservation and Brooke Havlik, Sustainable Seafood Educator-and an educational, all-inclusive four-course dinner with pairings for $100 per person.
