Two Days After NEXT!

IF you are a FOODIE and wear that badge and shout from the tree tops, then you get my title. If you don't get my title, turn in your badge and head to the kiddie table. Next Restaurant started taking reservations on Wednesday and the online chatter was INTENSE to say the least. After hours of frustration, people got their reservations and yours truly is hitting the kitchen table in May. To say I'm excited is an understatement.

I also snuck in to GT Oyster and Fish as well as Fish Bar last week...more coming on both. Good food but different experiences. I have to ask though - if you open a "fish" restaurant MUST you put Key Lime Pie on the dessert menu?

Lots of fun events and Easter is fast approaching.

Meet  Jonathan Waxman
On April 14th, Chef Tony Mantuano will host fellow Top Chef Master and New York City's Barbuto Chef Jonathan Waxman for a seated dinner at Terzo Piano in honor of Waxman's new cookbook, "Italian, My Way."  Guests will enjoy passed antipasti and cocktails followed by a family-style dinner with wine created by Terzo Piano and incorporating a Chef Waxman dish: chicken al forno with salsa verde.

Books will be available for purchase and signing with proceeds from all sales benefiting The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Illinois.

Cost:  $75 per person plus tax and gratuity for dinner. $32 for books plus tax, books may be pre-reserved or purchased during dinner.

Tax Day Deal at PF Changs
In celebration of the end of tax season and the extension of Tax Day to April 18, P.F. Chang's China Bistro Inc. (NASDAQ: PFCB) will reward guests nationwide with a 15 percent discount on April 18. The special one-day deal encourages P.F. Chang's diners across the country to celebrate the end of tax season with extra savings.

Dinner at Peggy Notebaert with City Provisions
The Nature Museum, the urban gateway to nature and science, has teamed with City Provisions, Chicago's sustainable, locally-focused catering company, for a supper club event. The most popular exhibitions at the Nature Museum will feature a specialty cocktail and sustainable dish. The cocktails will be provided by Death's Door Spirits in Madison, Wis.
Guests will have the opportunity to explore the Museum, including the brand-new exhibition Nature's Architects. Nature Museum staff will be on hand to lead tours and engage with guests throughout the evening.

Administrative Professionals Week is coming up on April 24 - April 30 - NOT Secretary Day

Easter Goodies

Bunnies from a GREAT local business
In all their glittering glory, truffle truffle's bunnies are hopping on to the sweet scene just in time for Easter. An artisanal chocolate and confections company, chef/owner Nicole Greene has reinvented the beloved bunny-shaped marshmallow by creating Boozy Bunnies, a fluffy treat in four adult flavors to upgrade Easter baskets everywhere. The four glittery goodies are inspired by classic cocktails and will arrive in a decorative wooden container complete with paper grass. The Boozy Bunnies, available for $15 for a set of four, may be purchased online at beginning Sunday, March 27 through Wednesday, April 27.

Easter Brunches

Sepia Brunch
On Sunday, April 24, food-loving families are invited to celebrate Easter with a prix-fixe holiday brunch at Michelin star-rated Sepia  (123 N. Jefferson St.). Executive Chef Andrew Zimmerman and Pastry Chef Cindy Schuman have created a special Easter menu of seasonally inspired delights for guests to share with their nearest and dearest from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost per person is $39 for adults and $20 for children age 12 and under, exclusive of beverage, tax, and gratuity.

Benny's Chop House
The Easter bunny is hopping his way to Benny's Chop House (444 N. Wabash Avenue, Chicago, 312.626.2444)! On Easter Sunday, April 24, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Benny's will be offering Easter brunch, as well as Easter dinner from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Be sure to bring your camera - as a special surprise for Benny's younger guests, the Easter bunny will be making an appearance throughout the afternoon!

Trump Hotel
On Sunday, April 24, Sixteen - the stylish, modern American restaurant at Trump International Hotel & Tower® Chicago (410 N. Wabash Ave., 16th Floor) - will present a spirited Easter brunch created by Executive Chef Frank Brunacci from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The holiday festivities at the downtown Chicago hotel promise an especially entertaining afternoon for children, who will be greeted by the Easter Bunny and receive their own basket to fill with eggs and housemade candy during a lively Easter egg hunt, which will begin at 11:30 a.m.

The cost is $115 for adults and $25 for children (under 8 years of age) exclusive of alcohol, tax, and gratuity. Sixteen will also be open for Easter dinner from 6 to 9:30 p.m., and guests can choose to mark the holiday with one of Chef Brunacci's unique tasting experiences or order from the restaurant's seasonal a la carte menu.

The Bristol - taking Easter Sunday Reservations
This Easter The Bristol will offer a condensed version of its regular brunch menu in a prix fixe format. The cost of $23 for adults and $12 for kids 10 and under buys a round of fresh baked goods, a choice of entree and coffee or tea. Reservations are being accepted.
