Chicago PHAT Burger

Now that the weather is nice-R! It makes me hungry to grill a really good burger. With that in mind, I'm going on a hunt for the best Burger in the city. I appreciate that this list has been made a lot but who truly stacks up as the best - a burger bar? Kumas? Or a place you may never have considered that can shock you with a great burger?

I will not be eating a veggie, chicken or goofy burger. The burgers I'll be testing and tasting will be beef...gotta keep it all fair. Over the next few weeks, I'll be eating for "you" and filling you in on my adventure. I'll also be doing a thousand more sit-ups to not be the PHAT one when I'm done.

Here's a video I did for David over at the endurance sports blog Pace of Chicago last summer on a burger you can cook in your house without a grill. I wonder where my nickname, Bacon Boy came from?

Look forward to your comments on places to try or you can email me at chicagofoodsnob@hotmail.com.

  • Check out the Beetle, formerly the Black Beetle, on Chicago Ave. They underwent an ownership change last year and the burgers are seriously improved since the change.

Thanks Zack...sounds good I'll add it to the list!

I'm going to sound insane -- but Bandera has a pretty good burger. Although I think Kuma's is the best.

Good to hear about the burgers, will hotdogs be next? So many Chicago landmarks to choose from?

  • Hands down the best burger in Chicago and easy to make!
