Hey Chicago, Happy Friday!
ChicagoNow's own Diana Durkes of Garage Sale Warrior posted a great blog the other day called Secondhand Fitness...Firsthand Fit about equipment she found at garage sales, thrifts and classifieds.
As she mentions in her blog, finding used fitness equipment that you can use at home can be a great way to maintain your fitness program. If you're one of those people that doesn't like working out at a busy gym and you have a little extra space in your home or apartment, a peice of home fitness equipment is a great way to burn extra calories everyday.
Also, finding a good piece of used fitness equipment will be much cheaper than signing up for a year-long gym membership and could be the answer you're looking for if getting to the gym is not working for you. But one of the issues with buying used equipment is that for some reason the original owners stopped using it, so does this mean something was wrong with it, did it not give them the results they were hoping for, or did they just simply get bored with using it?
So, before you run out and purchase any of the following peices of used equipment check out my review of the peices Diana found! So Diana, I hope that helps answer some of your questions and helped those out there looking to purchase any used piece of equipment make better decisions!
My suggestion would be to by something like the stepper (without the DVD's) and stability ball for around $35 total and create a circuit workout where you perform 5 minutes of high paced stepping, followed by 100 sit-ups on the stability and 20 push-ups on the ground. Perform about 5 rounds of this circuit for a cheap, complete, full-body workout.
Tune-in to WGN Radio tomorrow morning, I'll be on from 9:00am to 9:30am where I'll be talking more about my blog and how to stay fit and healthy in and around Chicago!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Honestly, when I see an ad for the Gazelle, I usually laugh (something about the pony tail), but your point about it having no motor is a plus, along with how it folds flat. And the recumbent bike is not so effective--that explains why they're always open at my gym. This is great advice, Mark.
Thank you Diana and thanks for finding these sales, I hope people find the info helpful! Have a great weekend!
