How sweet it is
Portillo’s, the fast casual concept loved by many for its menu of Chicago-style favorites--especially their chocolate cake--is bringing back its Lemon Cake.
MIA for ten years the cake is returning due to the efforts of a man named Ben, a Reddit user, who put up a $300 bounty on the Portillo's website to obtain the cake recipe.
Not only did he get the cake recipe but he gets to eat it too. The Lemon Cake will be available by the slice and whole cake from June 13 to July 31.
If you're lucky, you may even get to taste if before then as Portillo’s will begin testing the cake as a menu item in a select stores, before rolling it out to all of its locations.
Until then, you can still enjoy their chocolate cake at their restaurants or you can showcase your culinary skills by making it at home with this recipe.
