With all the candy and baked foods that come with Easter it's so important for those with peanut allergies to be especially careful. The
Nutty Video site promotes nut allergy awareness. This mission was inspired by the creator's second child who also has nut allergies. The
Nutty Video site will show you how to
use an Epi Pen, recognize a reaction, and lists of allergy safe foods.
Mallergies continues to impress with their recent list of the
Top 10 Easter Recipes. If you are not familiar with
Mallergies, it's an interactive site with information on a wide variety of topics, such as allergens, labels, news, reactions, recipes, resources, symptoms, and much more. This
list includes traditional favorites, chocolate and recipes from some of my favorite allergy free friends like Kim Christensen's who is the blogger of
Affairs of Living.
I won't be eating any of
these as I'm still going strong on my sugar free diet. I really do marvel at the creativity involved
here. Talk about "playing with your food".
I feel so much better without sugar that I've decided to stick to my Anti-Candida Diet (ACD) for a whole year. Candida is an overgrowth of yeast in the body creating symptoms such as bloating, brain fog, joint pain, yeast infections, and nutritional deficiencies. ACD not only involves axing processed sugar but also all natural sugars including fruit. Stevia is the only allowed sweetener. This Easter I'll be enjoying
black bean fudge instead of those waxy chocolate bunnies.
Speaking of "sweet" the Starbucks near Belmont and Leavitt is taking gift card donations to benefit
Cake Girls (and the other folks affected). The Cake Girls lost their bakery in a
fire earlier this week. Here's hoping they get their rolling pins up and running as soon as possible.
