If you plan on indulging with some gluten free beers tonight I suggest you have a game plan for that possible hangover come Thursday morning. Here's a few suggestions:
- Of course everyone knows you should drink water before, during and after you go out. This is easy to forget so make a pact with your pals that you will drink water between rounds and enlist the help of your bartender.
- Take a B-complex before you go out, drinking stresses the body and will deplete it of all those lovely Bs.
- When you drink eat something with fat in it. Renalli's in Andersonville has gluten free pizzas and pastas.
- Keep allergy free salty snacks and breads on hand. If you have gluten/wheat sensitivities you know you can't pop over to the local mini-mart and find GF breads. Whole Foods and Trader Joe's have many gluten free offerings. Rose's Wheat Free Bakery in Evanston has breads, muffins, cookies and more.
- If you find yourself not up to eating solid food, broth is good alternative.
- If you forget these tips and wake-up with you head aching, a bag of frozen veggies (especially peas) make for a great cold pack for your head.
- Young coconut water is like nature's Gatorade. It's sold in cans at Whole Foods, Karyn's has it at her raw location, and Thai markets sell the fruit in it's whole state. I suggest if you go the whole fruit route to prepare it before your big night out. I would not want to deal with cutting that thing open while my head is splitting.
- For some a cold V8 will do the trick, but please don't add vodka to it.
