Play with Food: One Fab Grandma, FAAN's New Look and more

Upon my "research" for gluten-free holiday offerings I came across an excellent blog called Fab Grandma. As she puts it, "This is my story of living a gluten-free life in an RV". Fab Grandma and her husband sold their house and most of their stuff to hit the road via trailer. Rock on Grandma! Her blog also shares gluten-free advice and recipes just in time to replenish your energy reserve for those Black Saturday sales.

I also want to give a shout-out to commenter William Beverly who made me aware of gluten-free Chex cereal. The Chex site has several gluten-free recipes including a couple variations of their famous Chex Mix: Sweet and Spicy Honey Chex Mix (this one include peanuts) and Italian Chex Mix.
Allergymoms.com has some great advice this week on being thankful despite having food allergies. Allergymoms.com consistently offers great advice for families such as news updates and support listings. Even though I'm not a "family" but as I like to say "a family of one", I find value in the information this site provides.

FAAN (the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network) has recently updated their website and it looks great. FAAN is one of the most trusted sources on the topic of food allergies and advocacy.

I become aware of chef Lorna Sass through Twitter. I follow Julia Child award-winning cookbook author, Rebecca Wood. She happened to mention Lorna Sass's blog and beautiful photography. Lorna Sass is also a cookbook author, her specialty is vegan (non-dairy) and pressure cooking. Her blog has a few non-wheat grain recipes such as amaranth, quinoa and corn chowder.

  • Thanks for the feature and link! Traveling around like I do, it is sometimes a challenge to find gluten free foods, but then I do love a challenge!

  • FabGrandma, if you can do it anyone can!
