The Middle Coast Film Festival is happening this weekend from September 21st-23rd at the Davis Theater (4614 N. Lincoln). Previously, the festival was held in Bloomington, Indiana until this year when it was moved to Chicago.
The festival will screen over 40 local, national, and international films on Friday and Saturday. Parties and events are included with the pass. There are six film categories: narrative features, narrative shorts, experimental, episodic, documentary features, and documentary shorts.
The movies run Friday from noon-6pm and Saturday from 10am-8pm. As far as genre entries go, Saturday will have some horror, sci-fi, and gothic tales screening.
Starting at 4:30pm on Saturday, catch the “It's Not That Scary” shorts block with creepy or just plain weird short films: “Doris,” “Who Decides,” “Bargain,” and “Tortoise.” Q&A with the filmmakers will follow.
At 9:00pm on Saturday, check out the “You Can Trust Me” horror, sci-fi, and gothic short film block: “Split Rail,” “I Met You on the Radio,” “Prenatal,” and “Jax in Love.” Q&A with the filmmakers will follow.
The headliner feature film IN A MOMENT by Chicago filmmaker Dustin Puehler (Ready Freddy Films) will screen along with short film “Plena Stellarum.” In a Moment follows the story of a man searching for love via a stranger he met on the internet while a gang of small-town criminals travel the countryside breaking into homes for fast cash. Q&A with the filmmakers will follow.
For all information on programming, films, and parties, please see the schedule. The costume party takes place Friday evening.
