MARIO BAVA Film Series - (August 4th-29th) The Gene Siskel Film Center presents Mario Bava: The Baroque Beauties of Italian Horror, a selection of nine films from the highly-admired Italian horror director throughout the month! Bava was known for making magic on a shoestring budget, using effective lighting techniques for creating stunning visuals that turned many of his films into mesmerizing works of art (see Blood and Black Lace). DAVE MADE A MAZE - (August 18th-24th) A rom-com in the sci-fi/horror vein. A man creates a labyrinth out of cardboard and gets lost inside. His girlfriend gets a band of misfits and leads a rescue mission. The world inside the maze is constantly changing, and it doesn't help that they're being chased by a hungry Minotaur.
