A new horror festival begins in Chicago today through Sunday. Philly's The Awesome Fest has partnered up with Wizard World, Inc. and the groovy one himself, Bruce Campbell, to offer a film festival that highlights the strange world of independent horror cinema that feels right at home in comparison to Bruce's work.
The festival will have indie horror panels, special guests, movies, and Bruce Campbell appearances. This event was programmed by festival director Josh Goldblum and film critic Scott Weinberg.
While located at several venues in Rosemont (Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Muvico Rosemont, and inside the Dome at Rosemont Ballpark), the fest is connected to Wizard World Comic Con. This means you can get access to the horror fest with your Wizard World ticket, though seating is limited. Tickets to the Bruce Campbell Horror Film Festival can be purchased separately for each screening or a weekend badge (which does not allow you into Wizard World).
Ticket options for attending the screenings:
- Purchase $50 festival badge. Get access to all screenings and events in all 3 venues *except* Wizard World.
- Purchase $10 individual passes. Get access *only* to the screenings you individually bought, access to 2 venues, and no access to Wizard World.
- Purchase Wizard World Comic Con ticket. Get access to the Comic Con and all screenings and events in the Bruce Campbell Horror Fest. (Space permitting!)
Festival badges ($50) are extremely limited. Buy now.
Films shown: Suburban Gothic (U.S. premiere), WolfCop (U.S. premiere), Cybernatural, Inner Demons (Chicago premiere), Starry Eyes (Chicago premiere), Zombeavers (Chicago premiere), Meet Me There (Chicago premiere), Extraterrestrial (Chicago premiere), an Evil Dead marathon, Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead, Killers (Chicago premiere), Asmodexia (U.S. premiere), and Savaged (Chicago premiere).
Please see theawesomefest.com for panel details, schedule, and plot summaries.
Heads up! Bruce Campbell will return to Chicago March 6-8, 2015 to host the fest once again, but it should be much larger!
