One would think Halloween was right around the corner, looking at the decent amount of events scheduled for this weekend around Chicago. Since many fans will be flocking to Flashback, let's just get started with the list right away, shall we? The events below start out with August 8-10 dates, finishing up with ongoing plays and more.
Flashback Weekend Horror Convention - Runs all weekend at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare Hotel in Rosemont. Robert Englund will make one FINAL appearance in his legendary Freddy Krueger makeup tonight to an exclusive audience of special ticket holders only and Charles Band will bring his Full Moon Shock-O-Rama Roadshow tonight at 10:30pm (Free). Saturday, catch the costume contest at 4:15pm hosted by Svengoolie, a Zombie Pinup Beauty Pageant at 5:15pm, and the stars from Phantasm perform live in concert as The Reggie Bannister Band at 9pm. TONS of guests. Panels include a full Phantasm reunion, Children of the Corn 30th Anniversary reunion, Hellraiser reunion, TCM 2 reunion, Lance Henriksen, The Soska Sisters, Hidden Horror authors, and more. Psycho Beach Party (2000) - Screens August 8th in 35mm at 7pm and 9pm at Doc Films.
The Goonies - Nope, not horror, but it is a great movie and you can see it outside under the stars in Wrightwood Park for free tonight at dusk! 2534 N. Greenview Avenue. Movies in the Parks.
Rotofugi - Work by various artists will be on display to celebrate Rotofugi's 10-year anniversary with a 10x10 art show tonight from 7pm-10pm. Exhibit runs through August 31st.
Jim Jones - The Raven and the Messenger, a curious drama about Jim Jones' inspiration for orchestrating The People's Temple, opens August 8th at The Annoyance Theatre & Bar. 773-697-9693. (Goldstar members discount price.)
Alfred Hitchcock - The Gene Siskel Film Center presents “Hitchcock: Early, Rare, and Classic” 35mm series through Sept. 4th. Saturday, see Blackmail (1929) at 3pm and The Skin Game (1931) at 4:45pm. See my previous post about this series HERE.

Faces of Eternity Skull Exhibit - Peruvian artist Luis Alberto Quispe Aparicio carved incredible skulls from gem crystals and ornamental rock. Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art. Through November 2nd. Read much more about it HERE.
Hitch*Cocktails - Audience suggestion leads actors through an improv Hitchcockian thriller as the actors drink until things get bizarre. Live jazz band. Annoyance Theatre and Bar. (Goldstar member discount tickets.) Runs through June 2015!
Zombie Outbreak - The live-action zombie laser tag experience in Aurora, IL ends next weekend! Shoot zombie hordes with realistic tactical laser weapons in a 12,000 sq. ft. space. 2killzombies.com
Clown Torture - The four-channel video art installation by Bruce Nauman continues through August 16th at the Art Institute of Chicago (Gallery 186, Modern Wing). Oh, yes, clowns. I haven't personally witnessed this spectacle, so if you want to see things like, “Clown Taking a Shit,” on loop for 60 MINUTES, watch at your own risk. (Nothing against it, just a friendly warning!)
