This Sunday, June 15th, fans around the Midwest will congregate at Reel Art Collectibles for a night of horror movies, networking and more genre festivities. Film Deviant is sponsoring a screening of Italian horror classic film Demons, directed by Lamberto Bava, along with a mini horror film fest. Five independent short horror films are scheduled for the evening, with some of the filmmakers present! Also, the fine folks behind Hidden Horror will be attending and available for book signings and general horror discussion. Yes, it is on Father's Day, but who says you can't bring your father or child to make it a day to remember? What's that old saying, “The family that plays together, stays together?”
The fun starts at 4:00pm at Reel Art Collectibles, 6727 Stanley, Berwyn, IL 60402. Aside from the Demons feature, the indie horror schedule includes:
- Pity directed by John Pata
- Service directed by Jerry Pyle
- Call Girl directed by Jill Sixx
- Blood directed by Zack Lorkiewicz
- Drain directed by Nathan Waters and Tyler Young
Some of the filmmakers are planning on attending, so be sure to find them and say hello! Bryan Martinez of Film Deviant will be happy to help.
In addition to the movie madness, editor Aaron Christensen and publisher Jon Kitley (Kitley's Krypt) will be on hand to discuss their book, Hidden Horror: A Celebration of 101 Underrated and Overlooked Fright Flicks, which recently won Best Book of 2013 in the Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Awards. Copies will be available for purchase. Additional contributors to the book will be around if you'd like your book decorated with a few more signatures.
This event is FREE and begins at 4pm. It is not recommended for children, however. Refreshments will be served, plus various horror prize giveaways. Free parking! Reel Art Collectibles has a great selection of vintage movie posters, comics, books, magazines, records, and rare toys. Bring your wallet!
All week long, Film Deviant is celebrating all things Demons with “Demons Week” by posting interesting facts, photos, artwork and thoughts on the Italian film on the blog HERE.
