Every year, a free movie series occurs in the parks surrounding the Chicago area and quite a few are tailored toward fans of horror movies. Obviously, the city wouldn't screen gory mutilations or anything, but they do offer fun, spooky classics as well as a few modern options that fit the bill. Think “family friendly” picks with a touch of the macabre.
The 13th Annual Movies in the Parks series starts June 13th and continues throughout the summer until September 14th. In total, there are 195 screenings scheduled in 150 citywide parks! Granted, viewers may want to stick to the neighborhoods they are more familiar with in case of safety concerns. This is a great way to spend time with family and friends without spending a dime.
