Vote! Choose Your President to Fear... In Movies
A killer disguised as Ronald Reagan in THE TRIPPER.

Today, history will be made. It's scary. Why not embrace these jitters by relaxing with a few horror movies after the election? There aren't a lot of horror films with a strong presidential theme, but this has changed as of late. With the election dividing both friends and foes, don't be surprised if a few more of these flicks pop up next summer. Here are a few picks to get you in the mood, especially if you have some angst built up, triggered by juvenile gossip unfortunately associated with politics today. Time to pick a president to whoop ass, chew bubblegum, and take a few names.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER - Released earlier this year, it's the best of the bunch in this category. Impressive production values, action-packed, well-written, good performances (notably by star Benjamin Walker as Lincoln), and Lincoln is a certified badass in every sense of the word. Directly based on a 2010 novel written by author Seth Grahame-Smith (who also wrote the screenplay), it's a smart, original tale with one agenda – to entertain. It's just a matter of how far you can suspend your disbelief. Trailer

ABRAHAM LINCOLN vs. ZOMBIES - Actor Bill Oberst Jr. stars as Lincoln, fighting zombies, performing decapitations with ease, associating with prostitutes, and more in this “so bad it's good” indie. Trailer

THE TRIPPER - How can you not love a tagline like this: “Move over, Jason. Look out, Freddie. HEEERE'S RONNIE!” Directed by David Arquette, this pothead-ridden slasher has an interesting cast including Thomas Jane, Lukas Haas, Jaime King, Jason Mewes, Courteney Cox, Balthazar Getty, and Paul “Pee Wee Herman” Reubens! I didn't care for it at first, but the more I think back on it, one has to appreciate the creativity involved. It's not a brilliant film by any means, but it is fun and unique, mixing in real archive footage of both George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan when they were in office. A killer dressed as President Ronald Reagan swinging a chainsaw in the woods, killing hippies left and right? Sign me up! “I told you hippies to stay out of the forest!!” Trailer

PRESIDENT'S DAY - I've not seen this 2010 slasher comedy, but if you are in the mood for a very low budget entry set in Lincoln High School, look no further. Trailer

FDR: AMERICAN BADASS! - I'm pretty upset for not having seen this, either. A problem like this shall be fixed shortly. Look at this amazing poster! We've got legendary BARRY BOSTWICK (“Brad” from The Rocky Horror Picture Show) speeding along in a pimped-out, gun-mounted wheelchair! The lovely and very talented Lin Shaye plays his wife, Eleanor, and why wouldn't there be a werewolf Hitler? Not to mention Kevin Sorbo as Lincoln, and Ray Wise (my favorite) as Douglas MacArthur! Trailer

At the end of the day, we all just want a leader who is a take charge type of person, who has the ability to get along with people of all kinds, in all countries. A decent person who gets things done, and one who can kick zombie ass if the situation should happen to arise.

Familiar with director Joss Whedon? Maybe you've heard of The Avengers? Buffy? Firefly? Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog? He's got an important message for you regarding the election:
