"I find zombies dancing in choreographed synchronicity implausible. And also, it's really scary." - Sheldon Cooper, The Big Bang Theory.
Words of wisdom. Or not. When the undead rise to dance the night away, it is anything but scary. In fact, it's an incredibly fun time, even if you are tired of seeing zombies at every turn. (Really, they seem to be everywhere lately, agreed?) The cool thing about the Chicago zombie scene is the strong passion evident in all interested. Heck, there's even a specific site for it at ChicagoZombie.com, and it's not uncommon to bump into the Zombie Army Bus at events! The following is huge and it doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Like most zombies, there is always room for more, so get infected and come out to play.
HorrorSociety.com presents ZOMBIE DISCO 3 to kick off June with style – disco style! I've been to the first two disco parties, and they were a blast. Kind of like a red carpet event, everyone is asking each other what they're wearing – on their face. "How did you do that effect?" It is recommended to find something other than true polyester to wear if you plan on dancing a lot. They want you moaning and limping, but not because you are suffering from heat exhaustion.
What exactly happens at a zombie disco? Well, Horror Society likes to make it as fun as possible, so there will be contests for Best Zombie and even Best Dance Move, a photo booth for your undead pinup desires, and you can show off your rotten, atrophied muscles by winning at Zombie Twister! There will also be a fashion show by MBH Mafia, performances by magician Ron Fitzgerald and burlesque dancers. On top of that, a birthday party for Rhea D. of MBH Mafia will be celebrated.
While attendees are not required to wear disco and/or zombie attire, it's strongly encouraged because, well, because it's a ZOMBIE DISCO, after all! Don't worry if you haven't any makeup, either. There will be a few artists on hand to apply f/x makeup, so you can do your best Thriller dance underneath the giant disco ball without feeling left out.
The disco will be held Friday, June 8, 2012 at NEO Nightclub, 2350 N. Clark St., Chicago, IL. Doors open at 10pm and you can stay all night until 4am if you like! Entry costs $10 and you must be over 21.
