After six months of renovations and reinventions, Castle, Chicago's newest multi-venue nightclub will host it's grand opening weekend March 1 and 2, 2013. Castle is located at 632 North Dearborn, the site where two of Chicago's most popular and iconic nightlife venues, Excalibur and Vision, stood for almost two and a half decades.
The new Castle has several levels. In the Castle Craft Pub and Eatery (lower level) patrons can play billiards, unwind with some hand-crafted cocktails or micro-brewed draft beers and dine on treats such as their signature hand tossed Neopolitan pizza, hand made sandwiches or other small plates.
During Castle's pre-grand opening preview party held Thursday, February 28, 2013, two pianists entertained patrons with renditions of pop and classic songs in the intimate first floor Cabaret Room.
In Castle's upper levels, patrons have the ability to view the main sound stage and dance floor of the Palladium Room where Grammy Award winner producer and DJ Roger Sanchez is scheduled to perform on opening night, March 1, 2013, from several different lounge areas and balconies.
Adjacent to Palladium, in what used to be Vision Nightclub, guests can enjoy the music and atmosphere from the three different levels of what is now known as Sanctuary.
While Castle may share some similarities with its predecessors, the club is not just a renamed clone. While Castle may still be at the same location and still attract the same type of diverse crowds, the nightclub is more luxurious and boasts a wide array of new features such as state of the art lighting, monitors and sound equipment which give an energetic aura to the place.
All private tables and booths have been sold out for opening weekend but general admission options are still available to the public. Since the opening of Proof Nightclub just over two years ago, no other club opening has generated as much buzz as Castle. Undeniably, the location is ideal and the furnishings and decor are beautiful. Although Castle doesn't officially open until tonight, many detractors have already taken to social media to smear Castle and claim its popularity as pure hype. Whether Castle will be able to live up to the hype remains to be seen but at least for this weekend, it will host the hottest ticket in town.
Initially, Castle will only be open to the public Fridays and Saturdays only and will be available on weeknights for special private events. However, additional openings on weeknights might occur as early as this spring. More information about Castle can be found on their website: CastleChicago.com
