Season Recap: Chicago State

This is the first of five season recaps that will appear this week. There will be one each day in reverse order of current KenPom ranking. It was also going to be like this during Tracy Dildy’s first season at Chicago State. Benjy Taylor wouldn’t have left the job for an assistant coach position at Hawaii... Read more »

Postseason Preview: Great West 1st Rd.

Sure, there’s no NCAA Tournament bid at the end of the line, but that doesn’t mean that the teams playing in the Great West Conference Tournament at the UCCU Center in Orem, Utah don’t care. There’s the opportunity to play postseason basketball (in the CIT) and a lot of pride on the line. Basically the... Read more »

Tempo-free conference aerials

Basketball State has some great statistics on it. I use it a lot when doing historical research, but one of the fun things it has for the current season are pretty graphical tempo-free aerials. Just last night the conference got two key victories.  First Utah Valley took out Pac-10 conference member Oregon State, 70-68. It was the Wolverines’... Read more »

A Northwestern public service announcement

So the Wildcats are playing at Texas-Pan American tonight. The Broncs somehow convinced Northwestern to give them a home game even though they play in the Great West Conference. That’s a pretty good deal. It’s UTPA’s home opener, but it still shouldn’t be close. Still, if you wanted to watch the game. You can! (I... Read more »

Tuesday Truths - Great West

Since the Horizon League is almost done playing basketball as a conference their games aren’t included in this final edition of Tuesday Truths. On the other hand, the first annual Great West Conference tournament starts tomorrow in Orem, Utah. Even giving Utah Valley the benefit of the doubt fans of South Dakota should start making... Welcome to March! And the final edition of Horizon League and Great West Conference Tuesday Truths.
