After a big performance out west Chicago State's Carl Montgomery was named the Great West Conference's Player of the Week. Montgomery won the award after a 30 point, five rebound, two block shot night in a 99-72 loss to TCU. He shot 10-18 from the field and 10-14 from the free throw line.

Montgomery is a four-year starter at Chicago State and is averaging 15.1 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game this season. He started off the season slowly, but the points would be a career-high average if he kept it up. His free throw percentage is also now at a career-high 65.9 percent.
The Cougars have also moved up from the very bottom of the Pomeroy rankings to third to last, 343rd. Conference play starts on Saturday with a game at the Jones Convocation Center against the Utah Valley Wolverines.
