UIC to play Pittsburgh in Coaches vs. Cancer

Apparently I'll get to have some conversations with the people at Eye of a Panther and/or Pitt Blather before the Big East season begins. That's because the UIC Flames have an opening round opponent in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic and it's a doozy.

The Flames are going to open up against Jamie Dixon's Pitt Panthers, a team that will surely be ranked in the Top 25 as it returns almost the entire team from a very solid 25-9 "rebuilding" campaign a season ago.
The game is on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the Peterson Events Center in Pittsburgh. This is almost a guaranteed loss for the Flames, because Pitt just doesn't lose on their home court. In fact, the only team Pitt lost to at home last season was Georgetown, 74-66.
Still, the Panthers did lose an early season contest to Indiana last year, so maybe the Flames have got a chance. No matter what though, this will be a good chance for UIC to get its name out there and get some exposure. ESPNU typically picks up a couple CvC games as well, so maybe the Flames can grab one of those spots.
This will be the first ever meeting between Pittsburgh and UIC.
As the season comes closer I'll have more to say about the schedules of all the Chicago team.
