Today the NCAA recommended that the Men's Basketball Tournament expand to 68, not 96. This is a glorious day for all college basketball fans. Of course this expansion is still a bit unwieldy, but it's way better than 96.
Now, if they were to say... create four play-in games with bubble teams, would anyone complain? Also, what if Northwestern had to play in one of those games to make the field of 64. Wouldn't that somehow be fitting. A do-or-die game to play with the big boys. Seems right up the Wildcats' alley.
Celebrate. For this is one awesome present.
(Oh yeah, and the NCAA is getting approximately $771 million per season from CBS and TNT. Lovely.)
