Here comes Michigan. I can't believe there is just two hours until Northwestern plays. I guess that's what an early start on Big Ten Network does to the schedule.
My first concern about this is that it might dampen the crowd at Welsh-Ryan Arena, at least initially. People will be coming from work and it will take some time for them to settle in. Will late classes on Tuesday night cut down on the student turnout?
I hope not, because this is a big game. Northwestern needs to win tonight to keep its NCAA Tournament hopes alive. This game, and Sunday's against Indiana are as big as they get.
The Wildcats can't afford to get down big against the Wolverines. While most of the predictive metrics have Northwestern winning by a few points, the percentages are close. If Michigan comes out on a hot-shooting streak or Michael Thompson gets in foul trouble there could be some serious repercussions. Michigan knows it can't let up after what happened last time in Ann Arbor.
