Links for a lazy Tuesday in the middle of the season in which none of the five teams are playing. Things heat up the next two nights though! (Apparently Notre Dame and Illinois are playing though, if that's your thing.)
The links:
- Just caught on to this but The Beacon Basketball Diaries has a post from Northwestern reserve guard Nick Fruendt about his experience. Fruendt has played a little bit this season as Michael Thompson's defensive body double. Apparently this is a weekly thing, so check out the Beacon BasketBlog for more.
- UIC received a verbal commitment from junior college forward Paris Carter. Carter played his high school basketball outside the city at Thornton Fractional South. This article makes him sound like a solid guy and recruit.
- Welsh-Ryan Ramblings makes a good point that the students should show up for this Thursday's Northwestern game against University of Texas-Pan American. Chicago College Basketball will be there as well, so we encourage everyone to go.
- Speaking of Welsh-Ryan Arena. StadiumJourney.com has taken trips to both Welsh-Ryan and the Pavilion. Shockingly the Pavilion actually got a slightly higher rating. The Pav crushed W-R in food apparently. Personally, I think both venues are a great place to watch a college basketball game.
- And in general sports news. ESPN is starting a 3D network. There are plans to show the 2011 BCS National Title Game, Summer X-Games, but it all starts with the World Cup.
