Chicago State gets a victory in Las Vegas Classic

First a mea culpa as the preview for this game was somehow left out of Tuesday's post.

Kabangu Tshinga Kasamba had 11 points to help the Cougars get their first victory over an NCAA Division I opponent this season.

Chicago State went to the Las Vegas Invitational on Tuesday night and came back a winner. The Cougars defeated Eastern Washington, 62-53, for Chicago State's first victory of the season against an NCAA Division I opponent.

The Cougars were led by Kabangu Tshinga Kasamba who scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 25 minutes. Antonio Lofton also scored 11 points for Chicago State. Carl Montgomery had 7 points and 7 rebounds.

Chicago State won because of defense. The Cougars held the Eagles, a member of the Big Sky conference, to 28% shooting from the field. Chicago State has a chance to start a winning streak when the Cougars take on Wagner tonight.
