This is a continuation of Chicago College Basketball's Top 10 players in Chicago college basketball history. The man at #6 went on to play multiple seasons in the NBA before returning to school to continue his academic career.
Already revealed players:
6. Evan Eschmeyer - Northwestern: A 6'11" center from New Knoxville, Ohio, Eschmeyer is probably the greatest Chicago college basketball player of the past decade. He played for the Wildcats from 1995 to 1999, and finished his career with 1,805 career points - second on Northwestern's all-time list. He was a three-time first-team All Big Ten honoree and was recognized as an All-American during his senior season in which Northwestern qualified for the NIT. (This past season was the first time Northwestern had made it to the postseason since that bid.)
Eschmeyer played four seasons in the NBA after finishing his career at Northwestern. Knee problems limited his career after he was the fifth pick in the second round.
The Winter '08 Northwestern Magazine had a piece about Eshmeyer who went back to Northwestern after his playing days ended and enrolled in the JD-MBA program.
Thanks to Welsh-Ryan Ramblings for the great vintage schedule card photo of Eschmeyer.
