Does the Bulls front office hang on to assets too long?

The NBA can be a world of buy low and sell high. One of the tricky things about running a team is knowing when to cut bait with a player and when to hang on to one. Some guys can be effective into their mid to late 30s while other guys lose value in their late 20s. Some players just have a lucky season while other guys whom look like they're having a lucky season develop into stars. How has Chicago done with asset management...

Deng likes trades for Bulls

An interesting quote from Deng per Mike McGraw: “We really feel like the trades were great for us,” forward Luol Deng said. “The schedule gets tough, but we have confidence in the team we have. When we play our best, I feel like we can play with anybody.” Now here’s a quote you can really... Read more »

Let's over-analyze one game of data; post trade performances

We’re sports fans, that’s what we do! The Bulls, Bucks, and Bobcats all won their post-trade deadline debuts.   All three teams got some contributions from the new guys to help them along the way.  Obviously, I didn’t watch all three games at once, so we’re going to be doing a little box score diving. Final trade deadline thoughts [at least until we play games]

I will presume the Bulls hit the trade deadline with several goals.   I will place them in order of my own personal order. 1: Ensure adequate cap space is available to pursue a max FA in 2010.2: Have a playoff caliber team for this season.3: Make incremental future improvements. How did the Bulls do? On... Read more »

The New Additions: By the Numbers

One of the sneakier things the front office did at the deadline was trade Salmons and Tyrus and get back two guys on expiring deals, Hakim Warrick and Flip Murray, who seem to fit the vacated bench slots on first glance.  Flip can score off the bench from the outside, and has done well scoring... Tyrus for Harrington and more info on Bosh

Per rumorpress.net: If a Tyrus to Rockets deal falls through, the Bulls will likely trade him to the Knicks for Al Harrington.  This would be a move, again, to add more scoring punch with the loss of Salmons.  If for some reason the Knicks change their mind on trading Harrington or if he is packaged... Bulls likely to get Warrick and Alexander for Salmons?

According to KC Johnson’s twitter there are multiple possibilities for the Salmons trade. Hakim Warrick and Joe Alexander is most likely with Elson and Thomas still being a possibility as well. The Bucks are either going to send Hakim Warrick and Joe Alexander OR Kurt Thomas and Francisco Elson to the Bulls. Probably the former.... Read more »

A random thought, Tyrus is playing tonight

A lot of talk about how John Salmons is not playing tonight because of an impending trade.   What’s interesting to think about is that Tyrus Thomas is playing tonight. The reason you don’t play a guy you’re trading is so that he doesn’t get hurt, or if the deal is actually finalized.   If the... Read more »
