Steve Novak mocks Nate Robinson for stealing his celebration move

This story has awesome written all over it. Steve Novak, THE Steve Novak, mocked Nate Robinson for stealing his celebration move.

You can read the story/see the video here.

Steve Novak:
"Oh man it warms my heart. The best thing about doing the belt is hearing all the stories of all the little kids around the world hitting a three pointer and doing the belt. One day when little Nathan grows up I hope his dreams come true and he can be just like me".

Nate Robinson then responded on twitter:
"@stevenovak20 lol at ur comment ... I forgot u invented that move u must play for the packers and ur name is Aaron Rogers #FOH clown"

The whole thing is hilarious. I mean stop and think about the fact that Steve Novak actually has a celebration move. This guy has barely been in the NBA for most of his career. It also cracks me up how brilliant a marketing campaign this has become for State Farm. It's no longer the Aaron Rogers putting on the belt, but we actually just call it the discount double check.

Novak's comments about Robinson were pretty funny, and I enjoyed Nate's response as well. Nothing like two 8th men getting into a trash talking contest over celebrations.

  • I dont know the move. Is there a video of it somewhere? I wonder if Steve includes the white man overbite when he does his?

It reminds me of the time LaDanian Tomlinson complained that Shawne Merriman did his sack dance on the Chargers logo. Bust a move baby!

It's Aaron Rodgers touchdown celebration move or the discount double check from the all-state commercials. I'm sure you can find a clip of Novak doing it on youtube if you search.

It's effectively him acting like he's putting on the championship belt from WWE.

  • I went and looked up the incident and stand corrected. Tomlinson was upset that a Patriot player had stolen Merriman's sack dance and did it on the Chargers logo at midfield. Now stealing a man's dance and doing it on his logo is pretty disrespectful I agree. If you are a 12 year old girl that is.

This remidns me of my favorite celebration controversy quote when Terrell Owens pulled a sharpie out of his sock and signed the football before throwing it into the crowd after a touch down. Then there was an article the next day stating something like:

"John Randle, who once squatted down and pretended to pee like a dog on a fire hydrant after a sack, was one of the most vocal critics of the celebration".

I forget (obviously) the exact words, but it was one of the most awesome sentences everwritten to point out the sure ludircousy of the complaint.

  • In reply to DougThonus:

Hey Doug, how about Joe Horn of the Saints... remember when he did the cell phone celebration? That was one of my
