Bulls vs Kings 7pm on CSN

Late on the game thread, too much work.

Derrick Rose mentioned revenge on the Kings for the 35 point collapse back in 2009.   The Bulls should have no problem accomplishing that goal.    Keys to the game are simple.

Keys to the game

Show up to the game

Seriously, the Bulls generally do not lose at home.   They especially don't lose to home after losing another game, and they really, really don't lose at home to really crappy teams.

They should win this one going away.

Dominate early and get some rest

Get a big lead early, rest your starters towards the end.  March on to 50 wins, and enjoy the victory cigars.

Final thoughts

Well, I said I was short on time, seriously though, should be an easy win for the Bulls.   Anything can happen, but I'll be shocked if the Kings win this game.

The more interesting question is whether Boston falls to New York tonight.

  • Aw crap, I have to root for the Knicks?

Fine, whatever it takes to get that #1 seed. Melo, how about playing some team ball for once, you jackass.

  • In reply to zentastic:

Don't think of it as hoping for the Knicks to win, think of it as hoping for the Celtics to lose. ;)

  • In reply to zentastic:

Did Bogans play for Sacramento before;-) He seems to know their playbook.

  • In reply to schaumburgfan:

    sacramento runs plays?

  • In reply to zentastic:

Solid first half, and Boston are taking care of their end of the bargain so far too.

  • In reply to DontLetsStart:

Of course you can't rely on the Knicks to do something useful like hold a lead ...

  • In reply to DontLetsStart:

Knicks score 4 points the last 7:26 to turn a 9 point lead into a 10 point loss. Even when I want the Knicks to win I hate them.

  • In reply to DontLetsStart:

    Ugh. I'm with you.

Melo and Amare scoreless in the 4th quarter. Thanks for nothing. Just for that, I hope you lose you choke it up the rest of the season.

  • In reply to zentastic:

So does this mean it's been Melo who's been holding back the Nuggets all this time?

  • In reply to walrus:

I think you might be onto something. But just don't tell Melo, you might hurt his feelings. He's a little sensitive these days ;-)

  • In reply to zentastic:

i wonder where he hides after a home game?

  • In reply to bucketball:

Calls DWade from the locker room for a good cry.

  • In reply to zentastic:

That was fun to watch. :-)

  • In reply to walrus:

Yes, it was an entertaining game.
    But I

  • In reply to Edward:

That they won in a blowout allowing them to rest guys for tomorrow helps.

  • In reply to Edward:

It was really nice to get the bench all those minutes. They've been playing their roles all season and it must have been fun to be getting some of the glory for a change.

  • In reply to Edward:

Agreed. They got some rest and need to ride that confidence into a nationally televised road game. I expect them to pull it out, but it could be a dogfight.

  • In reply to Edward:

Watched the KNicks / Celtics game for most of the night instead of the Bulls game once the Bulls went up by about 20. Switched back after the Knicks choked.

It was funny because the Bulls seemed to really want to embarrass the kings. You had Korver jacking up shots with less than 5 seconds on the shot clock with a 30 point lead and a minute left in the game. Still playing tough defense and Asik dunking.

  • In reply to DougThonus:

Thibs still had some criticism on the performance...said he didn't like the rebounding in the first half and there were a few defensive lapses! Probably true but...really?

  • In reply to DougThonus:

I think the Knicks will be a decent team once they get the right pieces. This season they are unable to gel correctly.
D'Antoni is a decent coach....he almost took the Suns to the finals if not for the stupid suspension of Amare in Phoenix's playoff series.
But that was Phoenix. Will NY have the patience to wait until next year or will they fire D'Antoni after this year.

  • In reply to schaumburgfan:

d'antoni will be gone. not a good fit for their talent now, especially anthony.

  • In reply to walrus:

Only in so much as he's been paid like a superstar when he's just a good scorer who doesn't play defense. But the Nuggets wouldn't have had cap space during Melo's max contract so it probably didn't cost them anything to overpay him. The Knicks on the other hand ...

  • In reply to DontLetsStart:

He's most certainly not a $21M player...that's why I was rooting so hard for NY to make the trade rather than wait. Not only did they give up good players but they hampered their ability to add to Melo and Amare.

  • In reply to DontLetsStart:

    show up and dominate.

i love it when a plan comes together. nice work, doug.

since i know your busy with work these days, let me help you with tomorrow's game preview... ;)

    Bulls vs. Hawks

    Keys to the game:
    1. Make sure everyone makes it onto the charter. I know it seems obvious, but it is important.

    2. In flight movie: Highlight reel of blowing a 19 pt lead in the second half the last time down in Atlanta, including Al Horford's line of the box score.

    3. Score more points than the home team over the course of 48 minutes.

There, that should do it. Glad I could help out.

    :)

  • In reply to bucketball:

LoL! From your keys to Thib's brain...

Hey,is it just me, or are Joakim and Carlos starting to develop a little chemistry and confidence?

  • In reply to petert23:

flashes of chemistry, they are both good interior passers. jo doesn't like booz ripping boards away from him, though.

  • In reply to walrus:

the hollinger computer has the nuggets ranked #3 in the league... i can't quite figure this and am tempted to dismiss the hollinger robot altogether. however, it has the bulls as #1 so it must be smart.

  • In reply to bucketball:

His rankings value recent form more heavily, and the Nuggets are 10-4 since the trade, with all 4 losses close games and most of the wins big ones. No real surprise they're doing well, it reflects how good they've been since the all-star break. The first round series between the Nuggets & Thunder looks like it will be brutal.

  • In reply to DontLetsStart:

i wouldn't write off either one against the spurs, either.

  • In reply to walrus:

hollinger robot has the nuggets ranked #3, which i can't figure. however, it has the bulls #1, so it must be smart.

  • In reply to bucketball:

Denver's been playing well lately and his ratings are weighted more heavily to recent record/schedule/margin of victory. I don't know if they really should be that high, but I will say they are more fun to watch without Melo. Better D, better balance on offense...

As for Melo, he's getting a feel for what it's like when you struggle in NY. All the thought about was being on the big stage, being the big hero...but NY can just as easily tear you down if you don't perform up to expectations.

  • In reply to walrus:

if ny plays miami in the first round, will any other series be covered by the national media? i am no new york fan, but that team has to deal with such ridiculous hype ans scrutiny, and they're not that good. i hope they do get miami as they match up well. and really, ny has passionate fans, i won't begrudge them an exciting playoff series or two. that's about all they are going to get in the foreseeable future.

  • In reply to zentastic:

Hey, how about some love in a blowout win?

Now a 50 wins total? A total domination 40 point ass kicking? 8 players scoring in double figures?

People sure are quick to criticize but slow to praise.

  • In reply to zentastic:

maybe people are overly influenced by thib's dour post-game interviews?

  • In reply to DontLetsStart:

8 players in double figures looks spectacular on paper. Great 50th win!

  • In reply to DontLetsStart:

My goodness, they are unbelievably horrible.
The Knicks are not only an awful team, but they don't even seem to care.
Selfish, unmotivated and poorly coached is a deadly combo.

But I must say a half way decent team beats the Celtics. They don't look that great either.

  • In reply to DontLetsStart:

Asik getting some nice dunk practice in garbage time to push the margin to 40.

50 wins! Been a long time coming to hit that mark again.
