Bulls @ Timberwolves 7pm on CSN

The Chicago Bulls look to bounce back after a loss to the 76ers when the travel to play the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight.   Joakim Noah is officially listed as questionable, but it seems more likely than not that he'll play.   The Timberwolves will be bolstered by the return of Kevin Love to the lineup.

Keys to the game

Don't blow it

Seriously, the Timberwolves are bad.  They've won 17 games on the season, and management might be more interested in not catching Washington than in winning games here.

The Bulls need to show up and do their part.   Rebound well, down throw the ball all over the place, and play in control.   Do that, and it should be an easy victory.

These guys can't defend

Derrick Rose should crush these guys.  He should crush them with the drive and crush them with the pass.  He should do whatever he wants.  Carlos Boozer should have little trouble scoring on Kevin Love, and Luol Deng should be able to do more or less what he wants.

The Bulls just need to take their time, work for a good shot, and not settle.   Bad defenses (well and good defenses) are exposed by crisp ball movement, so avoid jumper early in the shot clock and let your offense work.

Final thoughts

The Bulls magic number should drop to seven tonight, and we can hope Miami falls to Washington (okay not likely) while no other teams playing for seeding are going tonight.

  • How many assists does Derrick need for the rest of the season to hit 8/game?

  • In reply to JohnGalt:

9 Per game for the rest of the 9 games

  • In reply to JohnGalt:

Bill Laimbeer was talking about Drose its probably not a good idea to make him mad when you are coaching the opposing team when he is already coming off a home loss !

  • In reply to UtahBullsFan:

Laimbeer goes out of his way to be hated by Bulls fans and is successful in that quest. What an ass hat.

  • In reply to DougThonus:

not sure why Waddle & Silvy had him on anyway, who wants his opinion

  • In reply to JohnGalt:

Hey, don't take the Lapdoggies too lightly! They've had relatively close losses against quality teams in their last few games: lost by 3 at home to the Celtics and by eight in Oklahoma City, Dallas and Los Angeles... I didn't see the games, they may or may not have been as close as the scores sound... but with Kevin Love's return and Jo questionable, this smells a little like a trap game. On the other hand, I'm sure DRose and co will be MAD about their fifth home loss. Damn! Should be fun... can't wait to see Big Sexy set a HARD screen on Beasely and make him cry!

BTW, any word if their was any crying in the Miami Bleat dressing room after their loss in Cleveland?

  • In reply to petert23:

Word was that they were all hiding in the restrooms like LeBron did during the intros;-).
Any bets on when will Bosh cry again? 1st round if the Heat lose the 6th game of the series and have to win the 7th or when the Boston guys(Shaq, KG or Krstic(he can throw a chair)) turn him into their personal elbow pads?

  • In reply to petert23:

Rose 18/7 at the half ... he wants that 25/8 season average. ;)

Boozer looking better too, although you have to consider the quality of the competition.

  • In reply to DontLetsStart:

He's going to need to keep the game closer, because he won't be playing in the 4th quarter.

  • In reply to DougThonus:

Yep, 31 minutes didn't help his cause there.

Great to see Boozer with a 24/14 game on good shooting!

  • In reply to DontLetsStart:

Very nice to see. Obviously it's just Love and the Timberwolves but I liked the Bulls plan to get the ball in to him where he can actually do something with it. Now let's hope that we can continue to do that for the rest of the season and in the playoffs.

  • In reply to DougThonus:

With this Minnesota (Western Conference) win Bulls officially own the tiebreaker over Lakers.
Pending an April 7th victory over Boston, Bulls seem in control of the East.

  • In reply to Edward:

I think Dallas can knock them off tomorrow night in LA

  • In reply to Edward:

at this point, the game that's more worrisome is boston v heat. we need boston to win, because they're the least likely to be a threat for the 1st seed.

  • In reply to DontLetsStart:

Well, No Noah, no problem tonight.

  • In reply to DougThonus:

Yes, that is an interesting point, Doug. Was Boozer's improved performance more about Noah being out or the horrible competition? That's a whole column in itself.

  • In reply to Edward:

I reckon it'll take the offseason to get them playing well together, they need time to get comfortable with each other

  • In reply to petert23:

    Boozer is pumped up tonight...

  • In reply to fsalomon:

If you call pumped up immitating a flying chimpanzee on a routine dunk where the good part of the play was the pass by deng. Just more phonyism by Boozer, acting all into the game and embarassing all Bulls fans with his behaviour, disgusting in my opinion.
