Taj Gibson says he's playing tonight

Per Chuck Swirsky's twitter:

Just recorded pre game interview with Taj Gibson-he plans on playing tonight.

Good to see the pinched nerve isn't worse than feared.  I'm a bit scared that he makes the injury worse, but if it's close enough to being a judgment call, then that's a great sign his immediate future.

Only fear is that he hurts himself tonight and can't go tomorrow, but this is still great news.

  • I'd much rather see him play tomorrow than tonight, I'm going to that game. Yeah, I'm a selfish ass.

I imagine that if the nerve was still pinched he wouldn't even consider playing with that sharp pain and resulting weakness. So he's probably just dealing with the duller pain that lingers as it heals. I'm sure we'll be able to tell pretty quickly.

  • I'm no doctor but I don't think a pinched nerve is an injury you're likely to make worse by playing.

  • In reply to DontLetsStart:

Not true...it can be made substantially worse by playing. It depends on the nature of the injury though. The doctors do electrophysiological studies and nerve conduction studies to see exactly what's going on, so if Taj has been cleared to then his pinched nerve should be fine. But if you get a pinched nerve, don't automatically assume you're okay to do activities...see your doctor first!

    Boston. Playbook.

  • Nerves are usually pinched when the muscle they run through go into spasm, usually after being worked. I hope it doesn't get pinched again tonight after he plays...

  • Time to stuff the ballot boxes Chicago fans, we need to vote as many Bulls in as possible. The recognition would help.

  • Whats up with CBoozer? Will he be set to play next week? Bulls arent saying anything which makes me believe he will be out longer than anticipated!

He's bein' a big ol' puss, that's what's up with him

  • In reply to ChiRy:

I love his game, big time, but now I understand Utah fan's beef with him, and it only took 4 months for me to see it.

  • In reply to ChiRy:

Yeah, let's have the guy play with a broken shooting hand.

  • In reply to msalivar:

Its not broken anymore genius. In fact, its probably stronger right now than it was before the injury. It just hurts. And its not like its his foot where he is putting that 260 lb 5% body on it all the time.

  • In reply to ChiRy:

I don't think you grasp the healing process. If a broken bone is still sore, it's still weak.

  • In reply to ChiRy:

Dang! We should have signed or kept Shannon Brown on 2 separate occasions, looks like he could have helped solve the 2 guard quandry. He is one of the rare high upside atheletes who develope their game and refuse to only rely on their physical attributes. I know he is especially on fire tonight, but he would look good in a Bulls uni for sure, and I think most Bulls fans would take him over Bogans.

  • I am beginning to believe, Da Bulls could actually be the #3 team in the East.

  • In reply to claytonabigsby:

I think they can be #2 behind only Orlando.

  • why because orlando is not as dominate as everyone thought they would be? hmmm kinda like the heat

  • The Lakers are ranked 1st in scoring efficiency, should be a good measuring stick for the bulls to see how they need to improve the Team over the rest of the season. Defense and rebounding will be key for the Bulls in this game, if they don't at least keep the game close the Lakers will dominate with a big win.
