Derrick Rose has turf toe; won't miss time

Per John Jackson:

"I really don't know," he said. "I don't know how you get turf toe. I
just know that my big toe hurts. It's been hurting ever since last
season, in the playoffs, but I didn't know what was wrong."

The condition is more of a nagging problem than anything else. He
hasn't missed any time because of it and even participated in Tuesday's
brief workout.

I don't know what to make of this.

If you've seriously had turf toe since last season then why the heck were you playing in the worlds?   Maybe it's an injury that only flairs up now and again?   Maybe it was just a bit worse yesterday?

I don't know, seems odd to classify it as an old injury that we haven't heard of given the extra work he's done over the summer.  He also doesn't look limited physically at all, so it clearly isn't limiting him in the same way the ankle injury did last season.

  • It's the kind of injury that could get worse, which is why I'm worried. Hopefully it doesn't crop up this year and he can get rest for it this offseason.

  • Maybe it's just one of those things that comes and goes and resting doesn't really help. If it's not actually limiting him and he's just a bit sore no reason to worry about it.

  • This is pretty concerning. A lot of football players have issues with this. Especially running backs and the like, it ends up limiting their explosiveness and can take a long time to heal. Not sure how much difference playing basketball will make. Derrick has still looked great, but man...really stupid that he seemingly didn't talk to a doctor about it until now and get it taken care of if possible over the summer. Although I guess its great if he really wanted to get that FIBA gold that much.

  • I am sure the Bulls FO/Medical Staff are researching the best treatment for this whether it is a shoe change, rest, some kind of wrap. Maybe it just comes and goes....that's why he hasn't paid attention.
Just as Boozer is about to come back and Brewer is getting into some kind of sync, we hear Rose is not 100%...Hopefully, we get to see the real potential of this team to gauge what they can or cannot do!.

  • Indiana made 20 of 21 shots in the 3rd quarter for 54 points - the only miss being a last-second heave. And we thought the Knicks were hot!

Derrick Rose will be just fine. He's focused, like I have never seen him before.

  • I watched that Miami game too! That actually had me excited because I think the jazz are a west coast version of us

Dwill and Drose are pretty similar
Brewer and Bogans are similar to Bell
Deng and Ak are pretty similar
Millsap and Booz are pretty similar
Noah is a better center than Al

We also have a huge european center LOL

I hate the jazz but not as bad as I do the heat!

Oh and btw all the jazz fans here our thanking us for signing away booz now that Millsap is the leading scorer so far for the jazz!

  • In reply to UtahBullsFan:

How can you hate the Jazz?

  • In reply to bullshooter:

He also hates Santa Claus and kittens.

  • In reply to bullshooter:

You guys do not realize how bad the fans are here!

I go to watch the bulls play them every year and without fail I always almost get into a fight!

I think they still have bad feelings from the 90s!

The comments are horrible! For example:

Deng is a nasty Dark N@@&^!

They asked why I was a bulls fan and I explained that Utah didnt have a team when my dad was a kid. And his best friend was from chicago so he has been a bulls fan ever since! And I have been a bulls fan since birth and my 2 year old loves the bulls!

A 50 year Old Ladies Reply? "So you are breading it for no reason?!"

And most family/friends have really started to hate on the bulls since we got Drose making the Dwill vs Drose Argument!

And now that we took 3 of their plays you can imagine what kind of crap I get LOL

So anytime the Jazz Lose Unless they are beating One of the Top 3 teams in the east is good for me!!!!

  • In reply to UtahBullsFan:

Dude has a point, Jazz fans hate us & the Bulls, but those 2 finals victories were worth it baby!!!

  • In reply to bullshooter:

WOW if Derrick had turf toe he will be even more explosive when/if it heals! Those Adidas shoes must be helping alot!
Super funny Adidas commericial with Hangover kingpin guy in it! LOL

  • In reply to smiley:

maybe the adidas shoes are hindering the problem

  • In reply to UtahBullsFan:

With a 5-3 start is it safe to say Miami won't break the Bulls 72 win record? LOL!

Now the Lakers? They have a shot especially since the rest of the Western Conference has weakened a bit while the Lakers improved.

  • That year the Bulls started out 41-3. Jackson didnt want to break LA's record but the players wanted to try. Most Bulls losses that year was by 3 points or less - and Jackson sat the starters for most of the last 4 games (3 of which resulted in losses).
Lakers are more of a threat to break it this year than the Heat are

  • In reply to bulls6:

I remember that, the Bulls could have easily went 76-8 that year, they let up to Indiana & Jackson didn't push after they already had it, kind of the way they let up to Seattle in the finals after jumping up 3-0 in the series, then losing 2 in a row to send it to game 6.
Didn't they lose a game to Toronto that year too? WTF?
All their loses were on the road. They still did the circus trip. Still did lots of back to backs, still did the ice show trip, in fact, that one was toughr than the circus trip. During that trip the had 11/13 games on the road including 4 sets of back to backs, AND WON 10 OF THOSE GAMES! WOW!
Their circus trip that year, they went 6-1 with 2 back to backs! What beasts! We will never see anything like it again

  • In reply to ChiRy:

and another stretch, that 95-96 team played 5/6 road games, & won all 6.
