Bulls vs Bucks - 7pm on CSN - We're finally here

First, let's set the mood:

Okay, now try to calm down and not punch out a co-worker with all that adrenaline you just built up.

Bulls basketball is officially back, and even though it's pre-season, I don't care.  I'm psyched.  This is appointment viewing.   It's go time.   Boozer's injury may dampen the mood for some, but I'm pumped up to see the team in action.

First match is a tilt against the Bucks, and Tom Thibodeau said the starters will only play 16-20 minutes, likely mostly (or perhaps entirely) in the first half.

Derrick Rose vs Brandon Jennings
Joakim Noah vs Andrew Bogut
Luol Deng vs Corey Maggette

[edit -- Salmons, Magette, and Bogut will miss the game for the bucks as annoucned by CSNBullsInsider on twitter]

Bucks vs Bulls, in a preview of what most anticipate is the battle for the division.

Your first chance to see what Tom Thibodeau's scheme looks like on both side of the court.

I'm not going to bore you by trying to breakdown the matchups of a preseason game in detail, but I'm still all jacked up for Bulls basketball, and we're hit with three games in the next four days.   The NBA is back, and I don't know about you, but I'm ready to go.

  • These are the times I really really hate the time difference between USA and Europe!

  • I cant wait to watch the bulls. but i cant wait to play my 2k11 for xbox. Where carlos is not injuried. hahahahahahaha.

  • Vin! I totally forgot that came out today. I might have to cut out of work early so I can play with the 96 bulls.

  • In reply to Dmband:

do get it. if your a nba fan or a jordan fan or a bulls fan. this is a must! go BULLS.

  • In reply to Dmband:

Don't let that adrenaline get to you, you might end up with a broken 5th metacarpal bone in your pinkie just like Boozer. I wonder who or what he punched.

  • In reply to Dmband:

Yeah maybe he was boozing and got has a anger problem and punched the wall or someone's face!

  • cant wait. will have to pause 2k11 for the bulls.

  • is Corey Maggette well enough to play? I thought he was hurt..

  • Last year I fractured my 5th metacarpal rushing to get into my car. My hand got stuck on the outside handle and twisted as I swung the rest of my body into the driver's seat. And I'm just 200 pounds. As weird as that was, it's not hard for me to believe that a 265 pounder, falling unexpectedly in the dark, could fail to get his hand braced properly before all that weight fell on it.

  • Does anyone know if you can see the game today on the internet? Live in Seattle and don't thing my NBA ticket has gone into effect.

    Makes you wonder.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

Maybe Boozer realized that most of his 75 mil is going to his wife and punched something in anger;-)

  • In reply to schaumburgfan:

You have to know he hit something. Maybe the frig or a car?

    In reply to schaumburgfan:

How's the defense looking? From the stats, it seems like the bucks are getting whatever they want out there.

  • In reply to schaumburgfan:

    - Dickey Johnson
    - CJ Watson
    - Brian Scalabrine

    Those three guys just SUCK.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

yup so let's go get JOSH BOONE like you said

  • In reply to bullsman24:

I was hoping for Wilcox, but it looks like Jerebko got injured tonight.

That could mean that Wilcox is staying with the Pistons.

  • In reply to bullsman24:

It's funny I played 2k11 for xbox 360 last night and I killed the deer. hahaha. They made the bulls a force to be wreck wid. Hope when boozer and brewer gets on full health. We can be as good as the game.

  • In reply to bullsman24:

Bad game by the Bulls....luckily its the preseason. Korver played great....im interested to see what else Asik can do. He is actually aggressive for a european player. He was out there fighting for rebounds. James Johnson stills struggling, Watson was bad last night but he will be better .

  • In reply to schaumburgfan:

Watson just looked terrible. I've never seen a more flat footed shooter in my life. He certainly looks clueless as a playmaker/PG. Obviously that's what his rep was coming in as more of a scoring guard anyway. James Johnson.. I don't think he's going to make it in this league. His ballhandling other then transition is completely overrated. He just sits there dribbling in the lane as if he has to think about what he's going to do. Meanwhile because he doesn't keep the ball away from defenders he gets stripped almost every time.

Asik as a 30-some percent free throw shooter last year looks like a stiff. In the FIBA tourney he had no touch on any one handers and opportunity shots around the basket. The one thing he can do is dribble/drive off of pick and roll releases. But teams can foul him, and that's that. Taj looked pretty bad as well.

I think this will be a good Bulls team, but Asik for three second rounders instead of CDR or Weems was a mistake. Of all the bigs I've analyzed for the draft those who shoot 50% or below year after year are just offensive busts who don't last/belong in the league(Shaq and Howard excluded for obvious reasons).

Other then Asik and J.J. though I'm excited about this team. But Brewer's hammy has me concerned. And Watson better look much better in the next game because he was just suckville.

  • In reply to MarkNorman:

I meant 50% on free throws for Asik.

  • In reply to MarkNorman:

i started to get a bit frustrated with watson turning his back to the basket so often

  • In reply to UnstopaBull:

I don't believe he is playing either.

  • In reply to UnstopaBull:

The game hasn't started yet and already Stacey is homering it up by saying Boozer is better than Bosh. Joy.

  • In reply to UnstopaBull:

Did anyone else notice Asik's odd free throw box out method?

  • In reply to UnstopaBull:

actually they have the free trial of league pass i think for the preseason. i don't have league pass and i watched the game today on CSN.

  • Yeah. I don't think I've seen anyone ever go completely perpendicular to the guy they're boxing out.

  • With these two posts, you've managed to validate everything my wife has feared for many years now.

(She thinks we're all nuts btw ;-)
